R.I.P. Aaliyah, Her Memory Lives On

The tragic loss of R&B superstar Aaliyah still hits many (including myself) to this day. On August 25, 2001, she was tragically killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas just as she finished up a video for one of my favorite songs, "Rock The Boat". It has been 9 years since we lost this angel but she will continue to be in our hearts. At 22, she touched the lives of so many people and she may not be with us physically but her spirit lives on forever.

R.I.P. NBA Player Lorenzen Wright

Former Cleveland Caveliers player Lorenzen Wright, who had been missing for 10 days, was found dead in Southeast Memphis. His body was discovered near a wooded area just outside of the city. Wright had been missing since July 19th when he was expected to fly back to Atlanta after visiting his six children in Memphis.

He was last seen leaving his ex-wife's home at 2am on July 19th. The Memphis Commercial says a police dispatcher received a 911 call from Wright's cellphone the day he disappeared. The dispatcher heard several gunshots in the background before the call abruptly ended. No one answered when he returned the call.

Friends and family have gathered in Memphis to grieve Wright, who spent 13 seasons in the NBA playing for teams like the Cavaliers, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Atlanta Hawks. His uncle, Curtis Wright, says he had to call the retired NBA player's father to tell him the sad news. "Lorenzen's family has come together to mourn his loss and honor his legacy. We appreciate your thoughts, prayers and condolences as they are comforting at this very difficult time," read a family statement.

Breaking News! 14-Year Old Did Not Kill Family, Deranged Mother Was Culprit

Last week I made a post on 14-year old C.J. Romey who was suspected of slashing the throats of his siblings and then setting his Staten Island home ablaze, killing his 2 young sisters, brother and mother. Now reports are telling a COMPLETELY different story......that the mother, Leisa Jones, killed her own children. Autopsy reports prove she committed this heinous massacre, according to NY Post.

The horrific murder-suicide that ended in an arson on Staten Island was committed by the deranged mom, who slit three of her kids' throats before she killed herself and her baby in the blaze, law-enforcement sources said yesterday.

Cops had at first suspected Leisa Jones' oldest child, 14-year-old son C.J. Romoy, of the heinous act. 

But autopsy results now show that neither he nor his two sisters, ages 7 and 10, suffered any smoke inhalation, meaning they were dead before the fire was set in their Nicholas Avenue home, the sources said. 

All three children were found with their throats slashed by an old-fashioned barber's straight razor, sources said.

Meanwhile, Jones and her youngest son, Jermaine, 2, both died from smoke inhalation, sources said -- leaving investigators with conclusive proof that the unbalanced mother murdered her three older children first, then set the blaze, trapping herself and her baby. 

 

Both Jones and C.J. still had undigested pills in their stomachs, a source said. Some investigators speculated that this was because she may have needed to drug the teen before she could kill him, and then took pills herself. Sources could not identify the drugs. 

Cops yesterday confirmed that a singed note found amid the debris with the words "am sorry" was written by the mother, as The Post reported yesterday. 

The deeply disturbed Jones had allegedly told a pal several months ago that she thought about killing the kids and torching the house. 

C.J.'s dad, Earlston Raymond, said the friend told him Jones told her: "At times, I feel like killing the kids and burning the house down and killing myself." 

"[Jones] made that statement to more than one person," said the distraught dad, who lives in Jamaica and added that he learned of his ex's threats only after the tragedy. 

Jones and her children moved to Staten Island several years ago from Washington, DC. Raymond described his ex as hot-tempered and filled with negative thoughts. He said she was trying to sour the relationship between him and his son. 

"I'm sorry I signed the paper to send C.J. back to Washington," Raymond said, adding that he never believed his son committed the gruesome crime. 

The bodies of Jones, 30, and her children were found Thursday after the 4 a.m. fire. Investigators had originally set their sights on CJ because he was known around the neighborhood for his bad habit of playing with fire.

Tragic! 14-Year Old Kills Family, Then Kills Himself

According to NY Daily News:

The fire that killed a Staten Island mother and her four children is now being investigated as a possible murder-suicide - and detectives believe a 14-year-old boy may be the culprit, police sources said Thursday.

Investigators believe troubled C.J. Jones slashed the throats of at least two of his younger siblings, sliced his own throat and set fire to his family's apartment.

C.J. was found in the back bedroom of the modest Port Richmond apartment, a straight-edge razor lodged under his body, the sources said.

Though flames ravaged the home and badly burned the corpses inside, two of C.J.'s siblings - Brittany, 10, and Melony, 7 - also had their throats cut, the sources said.

The dead girls were found in the charred living room near their brother, 2-year-old Jermaine (who later died at a nearby hospital), and the body of the children's mother, Leisha Jones.

The three-alarm blaze tore through the second-floor Nicholas Ave. home at 4:15 a.m. and firefighters fought through a wall of flame to find the bodies, officials said.

Investigators now believe the fire was set just inside the front door, possibly to prevent rescuers from entering the home, sources said.

Before learning he was the leading suspect in the fatal fire, neighbors raved at how C.J. took care of his younger siblings.

"[He was] the man of the house," said friend Chandra Frankin, 29. "He took care of his sisters like a dad."

The wax figures of the late Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls were unveiled yesterday in honor of Tupac's birthday at Madame Tussauds in Washington D.C. yesterday. All I can say is damn, cause they look EXACTLY like them, especially Pac's. Some of the figures I'm seen over the years at Madame Tussauds make me go WTF, but these are DOPE. Props the TheYBF.

 

R.I.P. Jasmina Amena (6 Year Old Who Had Leukemia)

This truly breaks my heart. Little 6-year old Jasmina Amena, who battled Leukemia passed away yesterday. Many celebrities were touched by her and often came to visit her, including Rihanna, Kelly Rowland and Lil Mama.

Her mother Thea made the sad announcement: “Today, January 27, at 10:55 p.m., Jasmina lost her fight against leukemia.”

Barack Obama sent his condolences from the White House:

 “It is with great sadness today that Michelle and I extend our condolences on the passing of Jasmina Anema. Jasmina showed tremendous bravery in the face of adversity, and her ability to stay positive throughout her battle was an inspiration to me and to all those she touched. As the parents of two young girls, our hearts particularly go out to Jasmina’s devoted mother Thea. Our thoughts and prayers are with her and with all who knew and loved Jasmina.”

Whose Life Would You Save: Child Or Spouse?

I was on Mediatakeout yesterday and saw a post about a man (Stacy Horton) having to choose whose life to save: his son or his wife. While his wife was driving, the car crashed and plunged into the river. Stacy was nearby and brought the wife to safety and instead of risking ALL THREE lives, he decided to not save his 13-year old son's life. The couple have 2 daughters together as well (who were not in the car).

Some say it shouldn't have even been an option to save the child's life, but some say he did what he had to do.

Whose life would you save? Your child's or your spouse's?

Shaq Pays For Shaniya Davis' Funeral

If you follow my blog, you know that I have posted stories on the brutal death of 5-year old Shaniya Davis, who was raped and murdered by 29-year old Mario McNeill. Shaniya's mother had prostituted her and she was later discovered along a North Carolina highway. This story has touched my heart in ways I can't even explain. Basketball star Shaquille O'Neal has offered to pay the entire expense of her funeral.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Basketball star Shaquille O’Neal paid for the funeral of a 5-year-old North Carolina girl after being moved by national news coverage of the case of Shaniya Davis, who police say was kidnapped and killed.

The Cleveland Cavaliers player was touched by the stories he saw and got in touch with the family to see what he could do to help, a spokeswoman for O’Neal said Thursday.

More than 2,000 people attended the girl’s funeral Sunday. Her body was found Nov. 16 beside a rural road.

“I was sitting at home watching it on the news and the story brought a tear to my eye,” O’Neal told The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper.

Mario McNeill Charged With First Degree Murder, Rape Of 5-Year Old Shaniya Davis

Many have been following the tragic death of 5-year old Shaniya Davis, who was prostituted by her own mother and whose lifeless body was found last week in the woods. Mario McNeill, the 29-year old who was last seen with her alive holding her on his way to a hotel room, was charged with first degree murder and first degree rape of the child.

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police announced Thursday night that 29-year-old Mario McNeill is charged with 5-year-old Shaniya Davis' murder.

Fayetteville Police Chief Tom Bergamine said during a press conference that officials have ruled Davis' death as a homicide.

The 5-year-old disappeared last Tuesday from her Fayetteville home. Her body was found days later in a wooded area south of Sanford in Lee County.

Preliminary reports reveal that she most likely died of asphyxiation, but testing has not yet been completed so a final autopsy report has not been released.

Police say they do not believe Davis was killed at the Sanford hotel where she was last spotted on surveillance video with McNeill -- the same morning her mother reported her missing.

McNeill is now charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape of a child. He was already charged with kidnapping Davis. McNeill is currently being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center under no bond.

He is expected to face a judge on those charges Friday.

Shaniya's mother 25-year-old Antoinette Davis is also in jail on charges of prostituting her daughter.

I truly hope they charge this poor excuse of a mother with murder charges as well. RIP Shaniya Davis.

Missing 5-Year Old Shaniya Davis' Body Found....Very Sad Story

I have been following this story pretty much since I found out about it and this truly breaks my heart. ABC News has reported that the missing 5-year whose mother prostituted her, Shaniya Davis, body was found in North Carolina. She was last seen alive in the arms of  29-year old Mario McNeill who was taking her to a hotel room. He was later charged with kidnapping Shaniya.

Shaniya’s mother, Antoinette Nicole Davis, 25, was taken into custody on Friday (Nov. 12) and charged with human trafficking, child abuse involving prostitution and filing a false police report.

The child’s remains were located in an area bordered by Highway 87 south and Walker Road - just south of Sanford - during a second day of searching.

Davis was last seen alive at a Comfort Suites hotel in Sanford last week - the same morning her mother reported her missing from her Fayetteville home. Police say a surveillance video from the hotel showed the child with 29-year-old Mario McNeill.

The area where police found the body is about 7 miles from the hotel.

How could a mother do something like this. Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, allowed Antoinette to be with her daughter because he felt she deserved a chance to see her. Davis struggled financially over the years, but she recently got a job and her own place, so Lockhart said he decided to give her a chance with their daughter.  Now he is living with the biggest regret of his life.

My prayers go out to his family.

And the sad thing is that Antoinette Davis is PREGNANT again. SMH.

Kandi's Ex-Fiance AJ (RHOA), Killed

How tragic! Kandi's Ex-Fiance, AJ from Real Housewives of Atlanta, was murdered in a brawl at Body Tap Exclusive in Atlanta (where he was supposedly part owner of). His death was confirmed around 12:10am (eastern time) this morning, even though the brawl allegedly took place Friday evening. According to police, A.J received a severe blow to the head during the brawl. There are reports that he was also stabbed. A.J was transported to Piedmont Hospital were he was later pronounced dead.

My prayers go out to his family and Kandi. 

Update: Police have arrested a “person of interest” in the fatal beating of club promoter Ashley “A.J.” Jewell last night. Frederick Richardson will be taken into custody when he’s released from a local hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the “one on one” fight at The Body Tap, a local strip club.

Jewell was a co-owner of the club and promoted celebrity events there.

Today is the 8th anniversary of the tragic death of Aaliyah. Seems like only yesterday. I was and will always be a huge fan of Aaliyah. Even in her short time on this earth, she blessed us with beautiful music and a beautiful spirit as well.
