And We Wonder Why...

...the little girls of this generation are so fixated on trying to be perfect. You have 10, 11, 12 year olds worrying about if they're too fat..and putting makeup on to just feel like they can MEASURE up to the high standards of todays world. The female body is so glamorized that you have people getting all types of surgeries to feel...PERFECT. In today's society, it is embedded that you have to look like

or

to be considered beautiful. Both above pics are of women who have undergone surgery themselves to get that appearance, so even they are not REAL. Its hard to tell young girls that its OKAY to just be yourself when if they are overweight or may not have the pretty hair or the "light skin" because typically these people tend to get overlooked. Its sad...real sad.

I have an 11 year old niece. She's a big girl...certainly not the size she should be at 11. She thinks she is so grown and wants to be accepted so bad that she's always asking her mother for the tightest pants, to get her nails done...and now she is infatuated with working out. I know its because she just wants to BELONG. She wants to feel like she MEASRUES up to the "cute" girls.

I cant stress enough the importance of being yourself. If someone doesnt like the way you look, it is THEIR lost.

Amen! I'm trying to help my sisters see that the skin they're in now is beautiful and not to be concerned with the mess they see in videos and magazines because none of it is real!
